1st Impression (Self-Introduction)

From the first breath to last breath, we are continuously exploring and sharing who we are.  Whether it is one to one communication or one to many, we always introduce ourselves first to start our communication. Hence, I feel that it is very important to learn how to introduce one among others.

The speaker while introducing oneself or the guest should not that it should be around 30seconds to 3 minutes or 5minutes max.  Looking at the time constrain one have to choose what he wants to share and how that few seconds or minutes can create a base of long lasting relationship in the mind of listener.

The best way to represent ourselves is to portray a theme, which represent our way of living the life. It will convey both who you are and what you are. Idea of representing oneself plays an important role in creating 1st & long lasting good Impression. Remember an idea can change your life.

However, do not speak an award winning boring autobiography

Quick referral points to make your introduction speech:

Following are the tips for preparing your Self Introduction speech:

 (1) Purpose:   We must know the purpose behind traducing ourselves. My master said that when the purpose of life is realised, rest of things are easy. In reference to self-introduction, I would say it is a stepping up towards creating a big fan network. Remember Today’s world works more on networking.

 (2) Wish: The best thing it is to convey Good Wishes first. Your warm wishes will make your audience attentive to listen to you.  You have to wish depending upon the time, “Good Morning, either Good afternoon or Good evening”.

You can wish in different ways to grab the attention of the audience.

  • Good morning!  My Dear Friends.
  • Good afternoon! Ladies and Gentleman.
  • Good Evening! Beautiful Girls and Handsome Guys.
  • A Very Good Morning to all or Good Morning! Everyone.
  • Respected Sir, Good Morning.
  • Special or Lovely or Cool Morning to you all.
  • Hello Friends, Good Morning!

There are so many ways you can greet others to grab their attention towards you.

(3) Name:  The next step after greeting is to tell about your name.
To grab the attention of audience, you have to present your name differently.  You can help your listeners to remember your name by telling them the meaning of your name or any famous celebrity‘s reference with your name.

(4)  Location:  Tell about your present location, where you are staying and if you want, you can tell with whom you are living.  You can also tell about you native place.  It is better to describe or tell about your place, which is famous or well known.

(5) Profession: Tell about your profession, what you are doing at present.

(6) Family:  It is the Great Opportunity to tell about your family, so tell the details what you want to tell about them.

(7) Father’s Name:  Here you may mention about your father’s name.  Start your father name as “Mr. or Prof. or Dr.”

(8) Hobbies/ Habits: Hobby means what you would like to do in your leisure time.  Habit means your regular activities.  This part tells about your nature and your life style, so be careful while telling this.

In Interviews, they will again ask questions regarding your habits and hobbies.  So be careful and try to tell your real hobby.

(9) Life Aim: Tell about what is your life aim, it will be good if your life aim is high.
You have to think high and you have tried to reach high.

(10) Achievements: Tell about what you have achieved up to now, minimum it is good to say it in nutshell. Even if the achievements are small, tell them, it represents your attitude towards life, but do not say that I do not have any achievements. Else, maintaining silence is better option.

(11) Favorite Person/s or Ideal Persons or Role Model: It is good to say about you favourite or Ideal Persons.

(12) Favorite Movies, things, colours, place, etc:

This will help you to attract like-minded people close to you. They will be attentive to know more about you.

(13)  Your Strength and Weakness: You can tell about your strengths and weakness. In an interview, the weakness you will tell should be the Strength for that Company.

(14) People you like and dislike: “what kind of people you like and what kind of people you dislike” is an optional as it is a personal point of view regarding people. You may choose to share, but do it wisely.

(15) You can add about your life turning point where you have realised the purpose.

(16) How are you Different from Others? I suggest do not judge or compare. Be what you are.

(17)  Conclusion: In conclusion, just say Thank You or Thank you so much.

“What to reveal & what to eradicate” is the main factor. It depends on the taste of audience, the time and the location. Practising this principle steps will give you wisdom to adjust the points in different order. Have a Great Time-sharing about yourself, because it is in giving that you receive.

Touch Stone – A Story with Wonderful Massage

October 17, 2011

When the great library of Alexandria burned, the story goes, one book was saved. But it was not a valuable book; and so a poor man, who could read a little, bought it for a few coppers. The book wasn’t very interesting, but between its pages there was something very interesting indeed. It was a thin strip of vellum on which was written the secret of the “Touchstone”!

The touchstone was a small pebble that could turn any common metal into pure gold. The writing explained that it was lying among thousands and thousands of other pebbles that looked exactly like it. But the secret was this: The real stone would feel warm, while ordinary pebbles are cold.

So the man sold his few belongings, bought some simple supplies, camped on the seashore, and began testing pebbles.

He knew that if he picked up ordinary pebbles and threw them down again because they were cold, he might pick up the same pebble hundreds of times. So, when he felt one that was cold, he threw it into the sea. He spent a whole day doing this but none of them was the touchstone. Yet he went on and on this way. Pick up a pebble. Cold – throw it into the sea. Pick up another. Throw it into the sea.

The days stretched into weeks and the weeks into months. One day, however, about midafternoon, he picked up a pebble and it was warm. He threw it into the sea before he realized what he had done. He had formed such a strong habit of throwing each pebble into the sea that when the one he wanted came along, he still threw it away.

So it is with opportunity. Unless we are vigilant, it’s easy to fail to recognize an opportunity when it is in hand and it’s just as easy to throw it away.

it’s a story by anonymous. I am just taking an opportunity to share this as an instrument. Hope it will touch and turn the life of all the readers in to The Gold.

Driving a Corporate? Be Aware of ABC First!!

November 6, 2010

One evening of early winter days, i was sitting relaxed from my work, however many clumsy thoughts were floating in mind. Suddenly, I came up with this strange but thoughtful idea about any Corporate’s Journey from Zero to Hero!

When an entrepreneur forms an entity, he intends to drive it to the top as fast as he can. Looking towards such outstanding success stories across the biz world, observer within me unfolded its relativity with what we were taught as ABC while taking classes for our driving licence (Many of us might have heard of this, right?)

As it stands in driver’s ABC:

A stands for Accelerator

B stands for Brake

C stands for Clutch

So one has to have better ability to synchronize use of above three tools to be a  part of smooth and safe journey to success..

Accelerator in business  is about using a pace subject to outer conditions,  so choose the right speed for the given circumstances, Be aware that you don’t collide!! and make sure that you keep moving ahead no matter if it’s a tiny step or a Big Leap!

Having fun with accelerator, makes it necessary to have a neck in use of Brakes in this journey….this could be meant as keeping a patience at times or waiting for the right time to grab the right opportunities.  It would also mean to use the hand brake, as a cycle of time will always bring one to the point much higher on success ladder from where you may slip down if you were careless for even a single moment. So use brake, it is Important!

Clutch is the step by step process from childlike firm to Giant Empire.

Say 1st Gear is to start-up and have handy control on the business

2nd to see and gradually increase the speed of selling and production.

3rd is to maintain the balance in the competitive market.

4th is the stage of innovation & Creation

5th is the stage where one can be on express way to success reaching to the top and being there with stability.

Thus if one takes this entire process as journey, he will be the one of few who enjoys and gets the filling of fulfillment of vision.

Many of us have been taught to this driver’s ABC. Now aligning it in such a way to your life will keep you aware of your own journey to success and tools you have to drive through it, what you think?

Share your experiences on your real life situations that match any of above tools…I know you had…we all had…but the difference now is We are Aware…I open this discussion and sharing with on of my favorite quotes: “Don’t Beware, Be Aware!!” It always makes difference!
